Continuing the “Hidden Gems” series, Rich Harris talks with Dayton wing Koby Brea, Appalachian State forward Tre’von Spillers, and Nevada forward Nick Davidson.  All three are All-Conference candidates and will very likely be competitors in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Playing for the 21st ranked Dayton Flyers, Brea is one of the top shooters in the country.  He leads all DI players with a 3-point percentage of 48.7, and also ranks second in the nation for TS% (70.2).  Sporting the third best plus-minus rating in the Atlantic 10 (7.5), he is averaging 10.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor and 86 percent from the free-throw line.

Spillers ranks 12th in the nation with a FG% of 63.2 and is a POY candidate in the Sun Belt Conference.  He ranks in the top 10 of the Sun Belt for FG%, RPG (8.4), BPG (1.4), offensive rating (131.8*), defensive rating (92.8), PER (25.9), win shares (4.5*), and plus-minus (5.2).  The Mountaineers are 26-5 on the season and are currently leading the Sun Belt by one game over James Madison.

Davidson has helped lead the Nevada Wolfpack to a 23-6 record this season.  After starting just once as a freshman, he has been in the starting lineup for all 29 games so far this season, averaging 12.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and a combined 1.4 steals and blocks per game.  The 6-foot-9 forward currently ranks in the top 10 of the MWC for a TS% (63.2), FT% (75.7), REB% (15.5), offensive rating (128.1), defensive rating (97.8), PER (22.3), win shares (4.3), and plus-minus (4.2).
